The Cap Skirring Airport ( French Aéroport de Cap Skirring : CSK, ICAO: IATA GOGS) is an airport to develop the tourist area of Cap Skirring in Ziguinchor Region in southwest Senegal .
The airport is operated by the Senegalese government for civil aviation . The runway was laid out at a distance of a good 500 meters parallel to the Atlantic coast. The Cap Skirring settlement borders directly on the eastern edge of the airport area. The town of Ziguinchor is 55 km away.
Incidents
- On February 9, 1992 from was Dakar coming Convair CV-640 of Gambcrest with the US aircraft marks N862FW close Diouloulou ( Senegal flew 50 kilometers to the destination airport in a hotel complex) at a night landing at the airport Cap Skirring, probably because of the Pilot kept their lights on for the runway lights . In this CFIT ( Controlled flight into terrain ) 30 of the 56 people on board were killed.
