Diouloulou is a small town in southwest Senegal . It is located in the Bignona department of the Ziguinchor region .
Geographical location
Diouloulou is located in the west of Casamance , 15 kilometers inland from the Atlantic coast and 48 kilometers from the Casamance River , from whose confluence the strongly meandering and multi-branched Marigot de Diouloulou, exposed to the tidal currents, extends far north and disappears east of the city.
The city is located 48 kilometers northwest of the departmental prefecture of Bignona and 62 kilometers north-northwest of the regional prefecture of Ziguinchor . Gambia in the north is 14 kilometers away and the Gambian capital Banjul is 47 kilometers away.
history
The village of Diouloulou was the main town of the communauté rurale de Diouloulou and the arrondissement of Diouloulou . In 2008 the place achieved the status of a commune (city). Associated with this was the separation of the urban area from the area of the rural community and the arrondissement, whose main town and namesake from then on was the village of Kataba 1 . The urban area includes the villages of Djibaly, Bandiankoto, Missira, Brikamanding 2, Ainoumane and Santhiba .

Diouloulou is a stage on the National Road N 5 , which in Bignona of the as Transgambienne known N 4 to the border with branches off to the north-west Gambia towards the capital Banjul to pass. In this city, a ferry crosses the Gambia and enables the journey to the north via Karang Poste and Kaolack in the direction of Dakar .
In Diouloulou a road branches off to the west from the N5, which ends in Kafountine on the Atlantic coast .
