Dalandsagad airfield in 1990

The airport dalanzadgad ( Mongolian Даланзадгад нисэх буудал even Gurwan Saichan Airport called) is a civilian airport in dalanzadgad , the capital of aimags Ömnögovi Province in southern Mongolia . It is served by regular flights to and from Ulaanbaatar . For many tourists who visit the Gobi Desert annually, the airport is the gateway to the Gobi Gurwan Saichan National Park , which begins at a distance of only 30 km from Dalandsadgad.

The airport has an unpaved runway and, since 2007, a paved runway. The latter is the second longest in Mongolia after the runway at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. One of the few paved roads that can be found in the Gobi Desert these days leads to the airport.
