The City of Derry Airport ( IATA : LDY , ICAO : EGAE ; English City of Derry Airport , irish Aerfort Chathair Dhoire ) is a regional airport near the second largest Northern Irish city of Derry .
history
In World War II he worked as a military airfield RAF Eglinton known. The airport has grown steadily since the 1970s. In 2004 it had about 240,000 passengers.
In May 2007 the British civil aviation authority CAA withdrew its operating license for five days due to significant deficiencies in the flight operations areas .
Location and transport links
The airport is located about 10 km northeast of the town of Derry on Lough Foyle in the area of the parish of Eglinton .

Derry has connections to several regional destinations as well as some partly seasonal European holiday destinations, for example Birmingham , Glasgow , Alicante and Palma . The largest local airline is Ryanair . Connections to German-speaking destinations or long-haul routes are currently not offered.
