The Roman Tmetuchl International Airport (also Koror Babeldaob Airport , IATA : ROR; ICAO : PTRO) is the only international traffic airport of the island nation of Palau in the Pacific Ocean.

The airport has several names, including Airai Airport and Roman Tmetuchl International Airport . The latter is the official name of the airport, which has been approved by the Palau Senate. The airport is located in the south of the island of Babelthuap , in the Palau state of Airai .

location

Babeldaob / Koror Airport is about 25 kilometers from the city of Koror . The city can be reached by rental car or taxi, whereby the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge , which opened in 2002 , has to be passed during the journey to get from the island of Babelthuap to Koror.

Destinations

From Koror there are direct flights (as of February 2020) to Seoul-Incheon ( South Korea ), Manila ( Philippines ), Guam ( United States ), Yap ( Federated States of Micronesia ), Tokyo ( Japan ) and Taoyuan ( Taiwan ).

getting there

Tourists and visitors from Australia or Oceania have a much easier journey to Palau via Manila, Yap or Guam. European visitors have to include at least one stopover, mostly in Manila, Taipei, Seoul, Guam, Tokyo or Hong Kong . From North America , the most popular connection with United Airlines is via Guam.
