The airport Sioux Lookout , in English Sioux Lookout Airport , the airport of the city of Sioux Lookout in Canada's Ontario .
history
Sioux Lookout Airport opened in 1933. In the mid-1930s, the airport was one of the busiest in North America, with some even calling the airport the second busiest on the continent. In the period that followed, however, the airport lost much of its importance. In 1974 the owner, the Federal Department of Transportation, sold the airport to the community of Sioux Lookout. The current terminal was inaugurated in 1995 and was originally designed for 48,000 passengers a year. Because of the greater volume, the airport had to expand the building shortly afterwards. The two airlines Wasaya Airways and Bearskin Airlines are active in the passenger business today .
