The Timbuktu Airport , also Tombouctou Airport is an airport near the city of Timbuktu in Mali . By 2012, the third Air Mali operated scheduled flights from Timbuktu to Bamako and Mopti . Royal Air Maroc has been offering a flight to Casablanca with a stopover in Bamako since June 2011 , which however disappeared from the flight plan a short time later.
Incidents
- On February 22, 1985, an Antonov An-24 of the first Air Mali had an accident after taking off from Timbuktu airport due to an engine failure . Of the 52 occupants, only one survived.
