family

Otto von Bendeleben-Uckermann was the son of the heir, feudal lord and court lord on Bendeleben and major of the artillery of the Electoral Saxon Guard Johann Jacob (II.) Freiherr von Uckermann and his wife Christiane Eleonore Hofmann, a maid from the hotel "Goldener Engel" in Dresden . Otto von Bendeleben-Uckermann, who was an Evangelical Lutheran, married Elise Powell of Banlahan, Ireland, the daughter of the Royal Great Britain Major Powell, in Paris in 1830 . Life

Otto von Bendeleben-Uckermann was heir, feudal lord and court lord on Bendeleben and owner of the manor in Bendeleben. He served as a royal Saxon major.

On July 3, 1841, the princely approval of the union of the name and the coat of arms with those of the Lords of Bendeleben and the permission to use the name Bendeleben-Uckermann for the family as barons of Bendeleben-Uckermann took place. There is no relation to the noble family Bendeleben .

From August 31, 1843 to March 28, 1848 he was a member of the Schwarzburg-Sondershäuser Landtag. There he represented constituency 1, the knight and freehold owners of the subordinate rule .

In 1848 Otto von Bendeleben-Uckermann applied unsuccessfully for the Schwarzburg special houses mandate in the German National Assembly .

In 1849 he sold the manor to the family of the state parliament member Wilhelm Krause and emigrated to North America in 1850. He justified this himself, among other things, with the experiences of his family in Bendeleben during the March Revolution in 1848. In 1853 he settled with the housekeeper Minna Balbach, born in 1847, who had already entered his service in Bendeleben. Börner settled in Santa Clara County near San José and acquired land there. In the California State Census of 1852, San Francisco was listed as a residence.

His son Ottfried (Otto) de Bendeleben (June 30, 1836 - January 3, 1908) was an Alaskan explorer. The Bendeleben Mountains are named after him.
