The Leoben / Timmersdorf airfield ( ICAO code : LOGT , also Timmersdorf airfield ) is an airfield in the municipality of Traboch , Styria . It is located in the Liesingtal between the towns of St. Michael and Mautern at an altitude of 628 m (2060 ft) MSL . The airfield has been operated by the Alpine Sports Aviation Club Leoben since it was founded.

Flight operations

The Leoben / Timmersdorf airfield is an airfield operating according to visual flight rules , approved for helicopters , motor planes and gliders . The place, mainly used for gliding , can also be approached for general aviation after registration ( PPR ). Due to its close proximity to the Red Bull Ring , the airfield is often used as an unbureaucratic feeder for various motorsport competitions and as a sideline for the Red Bull Air Race .

Due to the predominant use by gliders, there are two separate traffic patterns in Timmersdorf : a traffic pattern north of the square for gliders and a south traffic pattern for powered aircraft .

Courses for the acquisition of the glider license ( LAPL ), the private pilot license ( PPL -A) and radio courses are also offered regularly .

Infrastructure

The airfield has a 625 m long grass runway that runs in a north-west-south-east direction (12/30). The apron , hangar and flight control are located south of the runway in the first third of the runway to runway 30.
