Culture and buildings

sport and freetime

Trabocher See to the south
  • Swim:

As a local recreation area - also for the surrounding communities and the district capital Leoben - the Trabocher See , an artificially created swimming lake in the 1960s, is not far from the village .

  • Aviation:

In the district of Timmersdorf there is an airfield (LOGT), which is particularly well-known among experts and operated by the Alpine-Sportflieger-Club Leoben, with ideal conditions for gliding. The airfield is one of the few Austrian airfields from which flights of over 1000 km and other record flights have already been successfully started.

The special geographical conditions, such as wide valleys with good outland possibilities and individual free-standing mountains, make it easy for even inexperienced pilots to get used to flying in the mountains. Another special feature is that waves can be flown in Timmersdorf at almost all times of the year: Immediately after cold fronts have passed through from the northwest, waves often form on the surrounding mountains even at low wind speeds, and sometimes even in the middle of summer can bring a gain in altitude of at least 5000 m.
