Kraubath an der Mur is a market town with 1,320 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the judicial district or district of Leoben in the Austrian state of Styria .
geography
Kraubath an der Mur is located in the middle Mur Valley between the cities of Leoben and Knittelfeld .
Community structure
The municipality includes the following three localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

- Kraubathgraben (47)
- Leising (230)
The community consists of the cadastral communities Kraubath and Kraubathgraben.
Together with St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld, the community forms the “Almfrische Gleinalm ” tourist association . Its seat is St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document as Chrowata around 1050 . The name is derived from Croats who once settled here. At Kraubath there was the last fighting of the Landsberger Bund against Duke Albrecht I in 1292 , which ended with a victory for the Duke.
The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
