The parish church of Kraubath is located in the market town of Kraubath an der Mur in the Leoben district in Styria . Under the patronage of the Holy George standing Roman Catholic parish church - the Admont incorporated - is part of the Dean's Office Leoben in the Diocese Graz-Seckau . The church and the cemetery wall are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in 1195, probably incorporated into the Admont Abbey from the beginning. In 1524 a parish was named. In 1784 the church was rebuilt. The inside of the church was restored in 1955 and the outside in 1971.

architecture

The roof turret on the west has an onion hood.

A slightly drawn-in choir with a three-eighth end connects to a long nave under a flat ceiling with plastered fields. The glass windows were created by the Tyrolean Glass Painting and Mosaic Institute in 1922 . The wooden west gallery on wooden pillars has a swinging parapet.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1960 was composed of baroque and neo-baroque parts and bears the figure of St. Georg created by the sculptor E. Huber (1956), furthermore the statues Gregor and Boniface from the second half of the 17th century and angels from the 18th century. Several baroque statues of Josef and Johann Nepomuk are from the Balthasar Prandstätter workshop from the second quarter of the 18th century. A seated Madonna with child and two angels are from the circle of Josef Stammel around the middle of the 18th century. A painting of St. Georg is attributed to Johann Lederwasch (1787).

The cast iron communion grille was created around the middle of the 19th century.

The organ is from the first quarter of the 19th century.
