Reinhard Felix Sachsenhofer (born August 14, 1960 in Linz ) is an Austrian geologist and professor at the Montanuniversität Leoben .

Live and act

Sachsenhofer studied at the University of Graz Leoben and at the Mining University mining geology . As an assistant at the Montan University Leoben , he received his doctorate in 1987 . From 1992 to 1993 Sachsenhofer worked on a Humboldt fellowship at Forschungszentrum Jülich , and in 1994 he completed his habilitation and worked at the Department of Geology and Mineral Resources at the Montan University. In 2003 he was visiting professor at Donetsk University . Sachsenhofer has headed the Chair of Petroleum Geology at the Department of Applied Geosciences and Geophysics at the Montanuniversität Leoben since 2008 . He is also an honorary visiting professor at the Chinese Jilin University .

Sachsenhofer's research focuses on the investigation of petroleum bedrock and hydrocarbon systems, as well as coal research. As part of his work, he is represented on the advisory board of scientific journals.

Sachsenhofer lives in Kraubath , is married and has three children.
