The Rieti airport ( ital. Aeroporto di Rieti , ICAO: LIQN ) is located 2.5 km northwest of the city of Rieti in Lazio , Italy . The airfield is also known under the name G. Cieffelli .
The airfield is operated by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Italian Civil Aviation Authority.
Infrastructure
The airfield is located at an altitude of 390 m above sea level. MSL and has two runways :
- 16R / 34L: 809 × 50 meters of grass used by powered aircraft
- 16L / 34R: 809 × 40 meters of grass used by gliders
history
The airfield was opened as a military airfield in March 1938 and destroyed by Allied bombers in 1944. From 1952 to 1996 it was again used by the Italian Air Force , mainly as a logistics base. The airfield has been under civil administration since 1997. It is mainly used by the local air sports club.
