The Saint-Dié - Remomeix or Aérodrome René-Fonck ( ICAO code LFGY ) is a civil French airfield on the eastern edge of the municipality of Remomeix , four kilometers southeast of the city of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in the Vosges department .

use

The airfield is operated by the Aéroclub de Saint-Dié and can also be used by non-club pilots.

history

The aero club that operates the site was founded in the 1960s. Gradually, 20 pilots acquired the 25 hectares of land they needed. The runway, which went into operation in 1962, initially measured 600 by 60 meters, in 1975 it was extended to its current length of 870 meters and covered with bitumen in 1990 to a width of 18 meters.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Aero Club of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, the airfield was christened René Fonck on June 21, 2009 , after a famous French pilot of the First World War. At the entrance to the airfield there is a marble stele with his image.

A SPAD S.XIII aircraft , a replica of the aircraft piloted by René Fonck, was built by 80 metal traders at a local school and now adorns the entrance to the airfield.

Furnishing

The airfield has an asphalt runway in east-west direction (07/25), 870 meters long and 18 meters wide. The airfield is not controlled, but has approach lights . Communication takes place through self-information on the frequency of 123.500 MHz.

In addition, the airfield has a parking lot, a hangar and a gas station (100LL).
