The Zell am See Airport is an Austrian airport in the municipality of the city Zell am See . Airplanes up to a total weight of 5.7 tons may land on this airfield. The rescue helicopter Alpin-Heli 6 of the operator ÖAMTC / SHS is stationed at the airfield.

history

In the years 1997 to 2002 the airfield was significantly redesigned and relocated in a southerly direction: In 1997, the new runway 08/26, which was relocated to the south, was opened, the old runway was abandoned. Today it is partly used as a parking lot. In September 2002, the new airport building, which was also moved to the south, was inaugurated together with the new flight operations areas. In 2008, an expansion of the airfield to an airport for machines with up to 45 seats was proposed. This suggestion was rejected again.

In autumn 2017, work began on extending the runway by around 120 meters and on July 3, 2018, the extended runway with 780 meters was put into operation.
