In the plane collision at Anapa on September 9, 1976, a Jakowlew Jak-40 and an Antonow An-24 , both aircraft of Aeroflot , collided and crashed into the Black Sea . The cause of the collision was a mistake by the air traffic controller .
Planes
The three-year-old Antonov An-24RW with the air vehicle registration СССР-46518 was on its scheduled flight from Homel on Donetsk to Sochi . Six-year-old Yakovlev Jak-40 with registration number СССР-87772 was on a scheduled flight from Rostov-on-Don to Kerch .

The Jak-40 took off from Rostov at 12:47 p.m. The pilots contacted the air traffic controller for the western airspace of Krasnodar at 1:30 p.m. At around 1:34 p.m., the Jak-40 was at the navigation point Novodmitrijewskaja at an altitude of 5700 meters. The Jak-40 should hold the altitude and continue to fly towards Gelendzhik . However, the air traffic controller did not ask the pilots to descend to a lower altitude after Gelendzhik, although according to the regulations he should have done so.
The An-24 took off from Donetsk at 12:56; their pilots and reported the entry into the airspace of Krasnodar at 13:32. At this point in time, the An-24 was at an altitude of 5700 meters above Primorsko-Akhtarsk . At around 1:47 p.m., the pilots of the An-24 reported that they had reached the navigation point Anapa . The air traffic controller instructed the pilots to continue to Jubga at the same altitude .
At 13:51, the Jak-40 and the An-24 collided with each other at an altitude of 5700 meters. A propeller of the An-24 hit the horizontal stabilizer of the Jak-40 and tore it off. Both planes crashed into the Black Sea and the debris sank to a depth of 500 to 600 meters. All 70 inmates died. Only the corpses and debris of the An-24 and the horizontal stabilizer of the Jak-40 were recovered. The rest of the wreckage of the Jak-40 and its occupants were not found. The air traffic controller that caused the collision had been on duty for more than six hours when the accident occurred.
Others
Just one day later, the plane collided in Zagreb . All 176 occupants of both machines died.
