Location and climate
The city of Fnideq is located on the Mediterranean coast a good 70 km (driving distance) east of Tangier and about 33 km north of Tétouan ; the Spanish exclave of Ceuta is only 7 km away. The climate is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 670 mm / year) falls almost exclusively in the winter months.

After the independence of Morocco (1956), the city's population grew significantly due to the immigration of Berber families from the surrounding mountain regions. One speaks Moroccan Arabic and Tarifit , but French is widely understood.
economy
One of the most important economic factors is the legal and illegal trade with the neighboring city of Ceuta. Tourism hardly plays a role.
history
At the beginning of the Spanish protectorate over northern Morocco (1912), Fnideq was a small fishing village. After the end of the Rif War , a Spanish administration was established. This ended when Morocco regained full sovereignty in 1956. Only the neighboring city of Ceuta in the north is an exclave to Spain and thus to the EU . Many buildings show influences from Spanish architecture.
Infrastructure
The infrastructure in Fnideq is considered exemplary for the whole kingdom. The city is well connected with the Autoroute La Méditerranéenne (A6) towards Tétouan .
