Fodé Mansaré (born September 3, 1981 in Conakry ) is a former Guinean football player who was active as a left winger in the French Ligue 1 as well as in the Guinean national team .

Club career

At the age of 15, Mansaré came to France from Guinea to play in the youth division of Gazélec FCO Ajaccio in Corsica. In 1999 he moved to HSC Montpellier and moved up to the professional team in 2001. He made his Ligue 1 debut on July 28, 2001 against Olympique Marseille . He came on as a substitute for Rui Pataca in the 63rd minute , and the game ended 1-1. From the 13th matchday of the season onwards, the young player managed to secure a place in the regular team and he played a total of 28 league games in his first season, 21 of them from the start.

In the years that followed, the winger was one of the regular players. In the 2003/04 season he experienced the sporting low point with Montpellier when the club had to relegate to Ligue 2 . Mansaré stayed with Montpellier in the first second division season and was able to score five goals in 34 games. The direct resurgence was still clearly missed and after his contract expired, Mansaré moved to the first division club FC Toulouse free of charge at the end of the season .

With Toulouse he achieved the best result in the club's history with third place in the championship of the 2006/07 season. Mansaré scored four goals in 34 appearances that season and thus made his contribution to achieving this place. In the following season they failed in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League clearly against the English representative FC Liverpool (0: 5 in addition). In the UEFA Cup in 2007/08 , it was not much better, after two arduous games against Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia is qualified for the group stage, in which one retired with just three points from four games as a group last. He ended his career in 2011.

National team career

Mansaré is one of the regular players in the Guinean national team . Since his debut in 2001 he has played at least 25 games for the Syli Nationale . He was part of Guinea's squad at the 2004 and 2006 African Cups and reached the quarter-finals with the team on both occasions, where they narrowly failed (1: 2 against Mali and 2: 3 against Senegal). He was also nominated for the Africa Cup in Ghana in 2008 and failed there for the third time in a row with Guinea's selection in the quarter-finals.
