Software magnifier

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The software magnifier ( also called focus magnifier in connection with photography ) is a software- technical aid for changing the displayed image section of digital image data. In digital photography it can be used to increase the precision of the distance setting.

description

In the case of digital cameras , in the live view mode, significantly fewer pixels are shown on the monitor or in the electronic viewfinder than are available from the image sensor . Therefore, with their help it is not easy to focus manually with any precision. The firmware of the camera can show a central or selectable section of the overall image on the monitor or in the electronic viewfinder enlarged. The user can use the visual impression of sharpness in the enlarged and more detailed image to make exact manual focusing.

There is a similar procedure with the screen magnifier for visually impaired computer users, in which image sections are also shown enlarged on the computer monitor. In this case, however, no higher image sharpness is achieved, since the image points, which can all be perceived separately even without enlargement, are only shown enlarged by multiplying rows and columns, with no information gain being achieved for people with normal vision. Usually the area around the mouse pointer is enlarged so that the user can work on the entire page.
