Folger Shakespeare Library Editions
The Follower Shakespeare Library Editions is the name of an illustrated series of individual editions of Shakespeare's works with general commentary. It is edited by Barbara Mowat and Paul Werstine on behalf of the Folger Shakespeare Library and is published by Simon & Schuster .
particularities
The individual editions contain an introduction in which the linguistic features of the respective work are pointed out and the text and performance history are briefly summarized. The output is designed in such a way that commentary (left) and text (right) can be found on opposite pages. The commentary contains a summary of the respective scenes, line-related explanations of terms and contemporary illustrations from the Folger Library. The appendix contains the editorial notes on text variants and emendations, a scientific commentary ( A Modern Perspective ) and a detailed bibliography. The edition is supported by a broad online offering. All dramas can be downloaded as Followers of Digital Texts . There are teaching materials for some of the works.
