The Fontus Lake ( English ; Bulgarian езеро Фонт esero Font ) is an oval, in a south-southwest-north-northeast orientation 150 m long, 100 m wide and 1.9 hectare large lake on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the Byers Peninsula , it is 600 m northeast of Dometa Point and 740 m south of Negro Hill in the middle section of the South Beaches . It is separated from Bransfieldstrasse by a strip of land 53 to 64 m wide.
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2020 after Fontus , god of springs, wells and flowing waters from Roman mythology .
