The Forbidden Valley (English for Forbidden Valley ) is a valley in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Hays Mountains of the Queen Maud Mountains , it is south of Citadel Peak . The valley, occupied in parts by glacial ice and a moraine , opens east-northeast of Mount Crockett to the Scott Glacier .
A team led by geologist Edmund Stump (* 1946) from Arizona State University visited the valley in December 1987 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program . Said moraine made access difficult, which contributed to the naming.
