The Hays Mountains are a large group of mountains and peaks in the Ross Dependency of Antarctica . In the Queen Maud Mountains they tower over the watershed between the lower sections of the Amundsen and Scott glaciers . They range from the foothills of Mount Thorne in the northwest to Mount Dietz in the southeast.

The American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd discovered them during his South Pole flight between November 28 and 29, 1929 as part of his first Antarctic expedition (1928–1930). The geological teams of this and Byrd's second Antarctic expedition (1933–1935) mapped the area in 1929 and 1934, respectively. The mountains are named after Will H. Hays (1879–1954), long-time president of the Association of Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA).
