Ford Foundation
The Ford Foundation (German: Ford Foundation ) is an American foundation whose goals are the spread of democracy , the reduction of poverty and the promotion of international understanding. It was founded by Ford Motor Company in 1936 with contributions from the industrialist and Henry Ford and his son Edsel Ford and was headed by McGeorge Bundy from 1966 to 1979 . The endowment is around 13 billion dollars .
The Ford Foundation helped found the think tank RAND Corporation in 1948 .
In addition to the headquarters in New York City, there are ten regional offices. The foundation is one of the most important donors to the organization Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting , a group that monitors the media. Former fellows include Jack LaSota , Witold Gombrowicz, and Kofi Annan .
