Henry ford ii
Henry Ford II (born September 4, 1917 in Detroit ; † September 29, 1987 ibid), son of Edsel Ford and grandson of Henry Ford , was President of the Ford Motor Company from 1945 to 1960. Under his leadership, the company was founded in 1956 in converted into a listed stock corporation, while previously (since 1919) all shares were always family owned.
While Henry Ford II was doing his military service in the US Navy during World War II , his father Edsel, President of the Ford Motor Company, died in May 1943. Since Ford was an important company in the war effort, the 26-year-old Henry Ford II was discharged from the army within a few weeks. However, his almost 80-year-old grandfather and company founder Henry Ford was not convinced of his grandson's abilities and took over the official management of his company again, which he did not give up until September 1945 and not entirely voluntarily.
In 1960 Robert McNamara became President and Lee Iacocca became Vice President of Ford Motor Company. Henry Ford II held the positions of CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors , positions from which he resigned on October 1, 1979 (CEO) and 1980, respectively.
Ford's daughter Charlotte was married to Stavros Niarchos .
The Henry Ford Building at FU Berlin is named after him.
Tracy Letts portrays Ford in the feature film Le Mans 66 - Against Every Chance (2019).
