Ford commercial vehicles

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At Ford -Nutzfahrzeugen is vans , trucks and buses . Listed here are the commercial vehicle series that were produced or sold by Ford in Germany.

overview

The truck and bus production in Germany, which began in Berlin in 1926 and was relocated to Cologne in 1931, was discontinued in 1961 due to chronically falling sales figures. In particular, the valveless two-stroke diesel engines newly developed by Ford Cologne in 1955 failed to convince customers, as they were not technically mature enough when they came onto the market, and as a result, they thoroughly ruined the good reputation of Ford trucks .

Since 1953, Ford has continuously offered a van under the name Transit .

From 1973 Ford tried to regain a foothold on the market for medium and heavy trucks, initially with the N and D series taken over from Great Britain . This was supplemented by the Ford Transcontinental long-distance truck from 1975 and replaced by the Ford Cargo in 1981 . While the Transcontinental ran out without replacement in 1984, the Cargo was offered in Germany until 1992. Ultimately, Ford withdrew from the truck market again when it was phased out. The British manufacturing plant had previously been sold to the competitor IVECO .
