The Thurner RS was a sports car that the insurance salesman Rudolf Thurner presented in 1969 and then manufactured in his company Rudolf Thurner, Body & Sports Car . The prototype and the first six copies of the series cars were made in an old smithy near Munich-Riem, later the cars were produced in the buildings of an old spinning mill in Bernbeuren . While the prototype was still manufactured on the floor assembly of an NSU TT, the floor assembly of the NSU 1200 C, shortened by 100 mm, served as the basis for the series cars , with the rear engine of the NSU TT . The body made of fiberglass / glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), mounted on a tubular steel frame, was screwed onto it. The two-seater sports car had gull-wing doors and the double headlights of the NSU TT were located under Plexiglas covers in the flat nose. The windshield came from the Porsche 904. In addition to the street version, there was also a racing version, the Thurner RS-R, with an NSU Abt injection engine that developed 135 hp.

After 121 copies had been built, production was stopped in 1974, as the oil crisis made production costs considerably more expensive and Thurner's chief financial officer was killed in a car accident. Another project with the chassis of the VW Beetle 1303 and the engine of the Porsche 914/6 was no longer pursued.
