The Fornohütte ( Romansh Capanna del Forno ) is a mountain hut belonging to the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) in the Bernina Alps . It lies at an altitude of 2574 m above sea level. M. on the slope east of the Forno Glacier .
The hut serves as a base for numerous mountain tours around the Fornoglescher and is a stage destination of the Sentiero Alpino Bregaglia. There are three climbing gardens near the hut. In winter the hut is suitable as a starting point for numerous ski tours.
history
The hut was built in 1889 by the chemist and mountaineer Theodor Curtius and the mountain guide Christian Klucker and in 1920 it became the property of the SAC Rorschach section . The hut has been enlarged several times over the years.
Approaches and crossings
- Two hiking trails of difficulty T3 and T3 + lead from Maloja to the hut in about 4 hours.
- Albignahütte ( 2336 m above sea level ) over the Pass da Casnil Sud ( 2941 m above sea level ), T4, walking time 5½ hours
