Research data center of the pension insurance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Research Data Center of the Pension Insurance (FDZ-RV) is part of the research data infrastructure in Germany. It makes the statistical data of the statutory pension insurance available to science and research . This data reports on the insured persons and pensions of the statutory pension insurance and enables analyzes of social science , economic , health science (reduced earning capacity, rehabilitation) and demographic issues.

The pension insurance research data center was set up on the recommendation of the Commission for the Improvement of the Information Infrastructure Between Science and Statistics (KVI). The development of the FDZ-RV was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Research Network Old Age Insurance (FNA) over a period of 5 years. It is an institution of the German Pension Insurance Association and has two locations, in Berlin and in Würzburg .

The main task is to prepare and publish so-called Scientific Use Files (SUF) and Public Use Files (PUF) from the process-produced data of the pension insurance for scientific research. The statutory pension insurance was thus breaking new ground, because as a rule no microdata was passed on until the research data center was founded in 2004 ; The range of data was limited to aggregated data that was and is being published in the form of volumes of tables and processed time series.

In addition, scientists at the two locations of the FDZ-RV can use guest scientist workplaces and then carry out remote computing projects.

Data acquisition

The data products offered are microdata from pension insurance, which are obtained from process-generated statistical data and which have not been made available in this form for scientific research up to now. These microdata are processed and published as factual or absolutely anonymized data products in the formats SPSS , STATA and SAS .

Data records of the pension insurance and offer of the FDZ-RV

In general, the statistics can be broken down into the following subject areas according to their content:

  • Insured statistics
  • Pension statistics
  • Rehabilitation statistics
  • Financial statistics
  • other statistics.

In addition, there are special surveys that may concern several of these areas at the same time and not only provide data on specific reporting years, but also include longitudinal data sets that depict insurance biographies.

Scientific research can obtain the listed statistics in the form of data products via the website of the Research Data Center for Pension Insurance (FDZ-RV).
