Fourier is an impact crater on the western edge of the lunar front , west of Mare Humorum , south of Cavendish crater, and southeast of Vieta . The crater is heavily eroded, the crater floor is relatively flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the French mathematician Joseph Fourier .
