Sculptures near Lohndorf

The Fränkische Strasse der Skulpturen is a sculpture trail in the Upper Franconian community of Litzendorf ( Bamberg district ) near the villages of Litzendorf, Lohndorf and Tiefenellern .

initiator

The exhibition of sculptures in the middle of the landscape of the Ellertal was launched in 1994 by the Upper Palatinate academic sculptor and graphic artist Ad Freundorfer , who lives in Lohndorf.

Almost all of the works of art are owned by the respective artists, who leave their works on the Sculpture Street for at least two years.

idea

The basic idea behind the Fränkische Strasse der Skulpturen is to get the art out of the museums and make it available to the general public. It is estimated that more than 20,000 visitors visited this open-air exhibition. The project is supported by the Fränkische Strasse Sculpture Group of Friends founded especially for this purpose.

In 2004/2005 further artistic works were added to the existing art-nature route. The Office for Rural Development Upper Franconia took up the basic idea and had five artistically designed land monuments permanently installed. This includes Harald Müller's Jura snail.
