Frédéric Chassot

Frédéric Chassot (born March 31, 1969 in Montagny la Ville ) is a former Swiss football player .

During his active time, the French- speaking country developed into a public favorite and cult figure. The highlights of his career were his two goals in the UEFA Cup against Celtic Glasgow , which enabled FC Zurich , for whom he played from 1998 to 2002, to reach the round of 16. His stations in Swiss professional football were: Neuchâtel Xamax , Lausanne-Sports , FC Basel , FC Sion , FC Zurich, FC Aarau , YF Juventus (amateur league, where he ended his active career in summer 2003). He is currently the assistant coach of FC Sion . Between 2004 and 2007 he worked as an assistant coach and then became head of sport and junior coach.

When he resigned, he could look back on 16 appearances in the Swiss national football team and 445 games in the top Swiss football leagues. For FC Zurich he made 107 appearances and scored 22 goals and received 8 yellow cards (mostly for complaints - he was known for his temperament).

In October 2008, Chassot became the new head of sports at FC Sion after Paolo Urfer had been fired. After taking a break in 2013 to obtain coaching licenses, he became assistant coach of FC Sion at the side of Raimondo Ponte and Claudio Gentile . On September 28, 2014 after the defeat against FC Vaduz on the tenth day of the Super League 2014/15 season , Chassot resigned from his position as coach to concentrate on his position as head of sport. He is currently coaching FC Friborg in the 1st league , the fourth highest league in Switzerland.
