Frías is the capital of the Choya department in the province of Santiago del Estero in north-western Argentina . It is located in the southwest of the province near the border with the province of Catamarca on the Río Albigasta . The distance to the provincial capital Santiago del Estero is 148 kilometers via the Ruta Provincial 64 .
