The Codex Sinopensis ( Gregory-Aland -Sigel: O or 023 ) is an illuminated Gospel manuscript that dates to the 6th century and is now mostly in Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale , Suppl. Gr. 1286, is kept. The codex was named after the port city of Sinop in northern Anatolia , where the manuscript was found in 1899.

The manuscript consists of the Gospel according to Matthew on 44 sheets of parchment with numerous gaps . It has a format of 30 × 25 cm. The text is in a column with 15 lines each.

Together with the Vienna Genesis and the Codex purpureus Rossanensis , the codex is counted among the early Byzantine purple manuscripts, the manuscripts probably originated at the same time in the same place. In contrast to the Vienna manuscript, which contains the Book of Genesis , the other two codices are Gospel manuscripts .

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Byzantine text and is assigned to Category V.
