Frailea friedrichii is a species of plant in the genus Frailea from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Frailea friedrichii usually grows individually with dark green to copper-red bodies. With a diameter of 3 centimeters, the bodies reach heights of up to 3 centimeters. The 17 to 20 ribs are arranged vertically and divided into cusps. The areoles that are initially brown, 1.5 millimeters apart , later bald. The thin thorns are amber in color. There are up to two protruding and slightly curved central spines, but they can also be missing. The up to 15 radial spines are radiating and comb-shaped. They are 3 to 4 millimeters long.

The lemon-yellow flowers are funnel-shaped, up to 2 centimeters long and reach the same diameter. The fruits, which are covered with light brown hair and bristles, are 1 to 1.5 centimeters long.

Distribution and systematics

Frailea friedrichii is common in Paraguay . The first description was published in 1971 by Albert Frederik Hendrik Buining and Günther Moser .
