Frailea gracillima is a species of plant in the genus Frailea from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Frailea gracillima grows individually with very slender, cylindrical, gray-green bodies. With a diameter of 2.5 centimeters, the bodies reach heights of up to 10 centimeters. The approximately 13 ribs are rounded, only indistinctly formed and divided into humps. The 2 to 6 protruding central spines are darker than the radial spines and up to 5 millimeters long. The up to 20 light radial spines are thin and lie on the surface of the body. They are up to 2 millimeters long.
The yellow flowers are up to 3 centimeters long and can reach a diameter of up to 5 centimeters. The fruits are greenish and have a diameter of up to 6 millimeters.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Frailea gracillima is common in the south of Brazil , Paraguay and Uruguay . The first description as Echinocactus gracillimus was published in 1839 by Hippolyte Boissel de Monville . Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose placed them in the genus Frailea in 1922 .

- Frailea gracillima subsp. horstii (Buining & Brederoo) PJ Braun & Esteves
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Vulnerable (VU) ", d. H. listed as endangered.
