The Français Volants are a French ice hockey team from Paris , which was founded in 1933 and plays in Division 2 , the third highest French ice hockey league.

history

The club was founded in 1933 by the French ice hockey player Jacques Lacarrière . The team was named Français Volants based on the nickname Flying Frenchmen used by the British for French ice hockey teams , which often traveled to London for guest appearances in the 1930s . The Français Volants won the French championship title in 1936, 1938 and 1989 . After the last championship, the team, which had been an integral part of the top French ice hockey league for over six decades , could no longer build on their previous successes and has since played exclusively in the amateur field, in the 2011/12 season in the third-class Division 2.
