Player career

Denis Perez began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HC Caen , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Ligue Magnus , the top French division, in the 1983/84 season . The defender then ran for five years for his league rivals Français Volants , with whom he became French champions for the first time in 1989 . Following this success, he moved within Ligue Magnus to Rouen Hockey Elite 76 , with whom he reached the playoff finals seven times in a row and with which he won the French championship title in 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 . He was also runner-up with Rouen in 1991 and 1996. The 1998-99 season spent Perez at the Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League . With these he became German champion straight away and contributed to this success with four goals and two assists in 41 DEL inserts. From 1999 to 2001, the national player ran for Anglet Hormadi Élite in the domestic Ligue Magnus, before he joined HC Amiens Somme . With this he became French champion again in 2004, after he failed with his team in the playoff final the previous year. Following the 2004/05 season, he ended his active career at the age of 41.

Perez belongs to the golden generation in French ice hockey and, alongside Philippe Bozon and Christian Pouget, was one of the exceptional players in his country. Both players were also active for Adler Mannheim. Although no French players have been active at Adler Mannheim for a long time, Christian Pouget, Philippe Bozon and Denis Perez left a lasting positive impression in Mannheim. Years after their career in Mannheim, the fans cheer their team on with “allez les bleus” calls.

For France , Perez took part in the B World Championships in 1987 , 1990 , 1991 and 2001 and the A World Championships in 1992 , 1993 , 1994 , 1995 , 1996 , 1997 , 1998 , 1999 and 2000 .
