François-Alfred Delobbe
François-Alfred Delobbe (born October 13, 1835 in Paris ; † February 10, 1920 there ) was a French genre and portrait painter.
Delobbe studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris with William Adolphe Bouguereau and in the atelier of Thomas Couture . He then attended drawing courses at the École impériale de dessin.
Delobbe made his debut at the Salon de Paris in 1861 with a portrait of his mother that caught the eye.
He received many awards and prizes, including a medal in 1874 for his painting "Musique Champêtre" and in 1875 for "Pyrame et Thisbée".
From 1875 until his death he visited Concarneau regularly , where he stayed with his friend, the painter Alfred Guillou. He also painted a portrait of Mélanie Guillou, his host's sister.
Most of his pictures told of the life of ordinary people in Brittany. François-Alfred Delobbe painted outdoors in spring and summer, and in the cold season he retired to his Paris studio.
His paintings also appeared in the " Gartenlaube ".
