François-Xavier Poizat

François-Xavier Poizat (born August 18, 1989 in Grenoble ) is a French-Swiss pianist .

Life

The French-Swiss pianist was born in Grenoble in 1989 . He is the son of a Chinese mother and a French-Swiss father and began playing the piano at the age of four.

He received his training from Alexeï Golovin and Evgeni Koroljow and was supported by the Argentine pianist Nelson Goerner . Poizat gave his first concert in Geneva at the age of eleven. Martha Argerich invited him at the age of twelve to participate in the Pacific Music Festival in Japan and described him as "a young pianist with deep lyricism and astonishing virtuosity."

Poizat lives in New York and studies at the Juilliard School . In addition to classical music, Poizat likes to play jazz and martial arts.

Appearances

Poizat has performed in more than 22 countries. He has given piano recitals at international festivals such as the Pacific Music Festival, the Festival of La Roque d'Anthéron , the Progetto Martha Argerich, and the September Musical de Montreux. He has performed piano concerts under the direction of conductors such as Neeme Järvi , Philippe Béran , Lukasz Borowicz , Thierry Fischer and Frédéric Chaslin .

Awards

Poizat received the Grand Prix at the “Romantic Star” competition in Kassel in 2004, the “Prix Jeune Soliste” of the Radios Francophones Publiques in 2007, first prize at the 2009 International Music Competition for Young People in Oldenburg and first prize at Elise-Meyer Competition in 2009 in Hamburg. He also received the special jury prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2011 and the Soloist Prize of the Migros Culture Percentage in Zurich in 2012, and in 2013 he became a finalist of the International Clara Haskil Piano Competition in Vevey .

Poizat is a scholarship holder of the Friedl-Wald-Stiftung Basel, the "Association des Musiciens Suisses de Berne", the Leenaards-Stiftung in Lausanne and the Marescotti-Stiftung.

Festival and recordings

Poizat is the artistic director of the international festival "Puplinge Classique" in Geneva, which he founded. He can be heard on CD recordings for Naxos , Ars Produktion and Piano Classics .
