François Bouchot
François Bouchot (born November 29, 1800 in Paris , † February 7, 1842 there ) was a French history painter and engraver.
After his first lessons with the engraver Théodore Richomme , François Bouchot studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Jean-Baptiste Regnault and Guillaume Guillon-Lethière ,
In 1823 he won the Grand Prix of Rome after receiving second prize the previous year. His stay in Italy lasted seven years.
He was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1835 .
He carried out several commissions for King Louis-Philippe I , including “ The Second Battle of Zurich on September 25, 1799 ” (1837, in the Battle Gallery of the Palace of Versailles ). François Bouchot is also the author of the painting about the coup d'état of 18th Brumaire VIII .
He created a mural in the interior of the Paris Madeleine Church .
François Bouchot married Francesca, one of the daughters of the opera singer Luigi Lablache , who after his untimely death married the Austrian pianist Sigismund Thalberg .
