François Georges-Picot (born December 21, 1870 in Paris , † June 20, 1951 ibid) was a French Consul General in Beirut who signed the Sykes-Picot Agreement with the British Sir Mark Sykes during the First World War . In this agreement, Great Britain and France divided the Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire into political zones of influence.

Picot was a supporter of a " Syrie intégrale " under a French mandate , from Alexandretta ( İskenderun ) to Sinai and from Mosul to the Mediterranean .

He later became a representative of the French Embassy in London .
