François Guisan

François Alphonse-Jean Guisan (born February 19, 1880 in Lausanne ; † April 11, 1953 there , reformed , resident in Avenches ) was a Swiss lawyer .

Life

François Guisan was born on February 19, 1880 in Lausanne to the canton judge Henri Guisan and Louise de Felice. Guisan, member of the Swiss Zofingerverein , who was President of the Vaudois Section in 1900 , devoted himself to studying law at the Universities of Lausanne , Berlin and Paris, which he obtained in Lausanne in 1905 with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed.

As a result, François Guisan first worked as a lawyer in Lausanne from 1907 to 1919 . He then succeeded Paul Rambert at the University of Lausanne. There he initially worked as an associate professor from 1919 to 1921, after which he held the chairs for civil and civil procedural law from 1921 to 1934, for Swiss civil law from 1934 to 1950 and for legal philosophy from 1944 to 1950.

François Guisan stood out in particular as the author of several works on inheritance law .

François Guisan, father of Louis Guisan , was married to Cécile, born Piguet. He died on April 11, 1953, two months after he had turned 73, in his native Lausanne.
