François Legrand (born March 26, 1970 in Grenoble ) is a French climber.

François Legrand was the most successful competitive climber to date. At the age of two, he says he started climbing . In 1991 he won his first three World Cups and the World Championship in Frankfurt am Main . In 1992 he was European champion and in 1990, 1994, 1997 and 1998 winner of the Rockmaster in Arco (Italy). In total, he won the World Cup fifteen times. He also won the overall World Cup from 1990 to 1993 and again in 1997. After 1991 he became world champion in 1993 and 1995. He won his last World Cup in Leipzig in 1999 . In 2001 he was second again in a World Cup.

Since 2004 he has not participated in any major international competitions and devoted himself more to climbing outdoors. Furthermore, since his own retirement from international climbing, Legrand has worked several times as chief route setter at World Cups and World Championships.
