François Vatable
François Vatable , called Watebled (* around 1495 in Picardy , † March 16, 1547 in Paris ) was a French scholar .
Life
Vatable taught at the newly founded Collège de France and was considered to be one of the best Hebrew experts of his time. His translations and commentaries were published based on the transcripts of his students. The works edited by Robert Estienne , with notes by David Kimchi , were condemned for Protestant tendencies and not recognized by Vatable himself.
