François d'Agincour
François d'Agincour ( also: Dagincour, (d ') Agincourt; * 1684 in Rouen , † April 30, 1758 ibid) was a French harpsichordist , organist and composer of the Baroque .
Life
D'Agincour was probably a student of Jacques Boyvin , the organist of Notre-Dame at the time . He later went to Paris to further develop his organ playing under the guidance of the royal court organist Nicolas Antoine Lebègue . On December 6, 1701, after an audition, he was appointed organist of the Sainte-Madeleine-en-la-Cité church, where he held his office until September 12, 1706. After Boyvin died on June 30th of the same year, d'Agincour became his successor on August 25th, again after a successful audition. He would hold this post for 52 years. At the same time he became organist at the royal abbey of Saint-Quen .
In October 1714, d'Agincour became one of the four royal organists of the Chapelle Royale , succeeding Louis Marchand . In 1726 he finally gained an additional position as organist at Rouen Cathedral . A pupil of d'Agincour was Jacques Duphly .
