The Franca Glacier is a glacier on the Bowman Coast of southern Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows in a north-easterly direction to the head of the Solberg Inlet .
The first aerial photographs were taken in 1940 during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941), and the United States Navy took more in 1966. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out surveys between 1946 and 1948. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the glacier in 1977 after Fernando E. Franca (1925–1992), medical officer and administrator of Palmer Station in 1974.
