Francesc Costa i Carrera

Francesc Costa i Carrera (born February 11, 1891 in Barcelona ; † September 16, 1959 there ) was a Catalan classical violinist and music teacher .

life and work

Francesc Costa was initially a student of the Basque violinist Clemente Ibarguren Garicano at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona . He received a scholarship from the city of Barcelona and then studied violin at the Brussels Conservatory with Alfred Marchot .

Until 1936 he went on concert tours in Europe, Africa and America both as a soloist and as part of ensembles. In 1922 he entered the Barcelona Municipal Conservatory as a violin teacher . The Catalan violinist Rosa Mas must be named among his students .
