Francesco Beccaruzzi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Francesco Beccaruzzi (* around 1492 in Conegliano , † around 1563 in Treviso ) was an Italian painter.

Little is known about Francesco Beccaruzzi's origins and training. The signature on two of his works proves that it came from Conegliano. From 1519 at the latest he can be traced back to Treviso, where he married in 1540 and where his son Agostino Percausis was born in 1555. Beccaruzzi is first mentioned as an artist around 1531. His works show a strong Venetian influence, so that a longer stay and perhaps an education in Venice can be assumed. He is traditionally regarded as a student of the Cima da Conegliano , but this is not supported by any documents. He was strongly influenced by Giovanni Antonio da Pordenone and Tizian , whose works he seems to have studied in detail in Treviso. In addition, contacts to Paris Bordone , Ludovico Fiumicelli (* 1500; † 1582) and Lorenzo Lotto can be proven.
